Dr Harry Phelps:  B.App. Sci (Chiro) Dip. App Sci (Hu. Bio/Chiro). 

Dr Phelps graduated from the International College of Chiropractic, Melbourne, in 1980 and was one of the College’s foundation students.  He stayed on after graduation to teach clinical sciences and as an assistant clinician at the ‘Summerhill’ College Clinic.  

On returning to New Zealand he practiced briefly with his father, Dr Cyril Phelps, in Kaitaia before returning to the Wellington region in 1981 to establish his own clinic in Paraparaumu.  In 1984 Harry bought a clinic in Lower Hutt, he worked his two clinics for about seven years.  Dr Phelps has practiced from his rooms on Amohia Street, Paraparaumu since 2000.

He lives in Waikanae, is married to Chrissie who is also a regular face at the clinic and has two adult daughters.

Chiropractic is especially helpful in the treatment of back pain, sciatica, neck pain, shoulder pain, some types of headaches and peripheral joint pain.

Chiropractic treatment can be beneficial to some infants and children with reflux, or  disturbed sleep patterns

The chiropractic techniques most often used by Dr Phelps, after a full evaluation of a patient’s spine, are Gonstead and Diversified.  Both techniques employ manual adjustment of the spine and extremities

Gonstead is acknowledged as one of the safest systems of evaluating and caring for the spine. Together these techniques help to restore spinal biomechanics and to reduce nervous system interferences.
